Maximum Carnage is a traditional beat 'em up developed with the OpenBOR engine, where you'll star in a completely original story within the Marvel universe. Your mission is to defeat Matanza, one of Spider-Man's most fearsome enemies, who is sowing chaos in the city. Luckily, Spider-Man won't be alone in this adventure, as you can count on many other legendary characters from the comics.
A true homage to the 16-bit classic
As many gamers will know, there was already a Maximum Carnage in the 16-bit era, which was released exclusively for SNES and Mega Drive (Sega Genesis). The aim of this sort of remake is to recover the essence of this classic, which, despite the years, remains one of the most faithful action games to the Marvel Universe comics. Even the game's storyline features scenes that are practically identical to those seen in the console original, which, in turn, were already similar to those seen in the comic book vignettes.
Play on your own or with friends
As is the tradition in the games developed with OpenBOR, you'll be able to play Maximum Carnage both as a solo player and in local cooperative mode with a few friends. The game is perfectly enjoyable as a single player, and sometimes, you can even get special items that allow you to summon AI-controlled allies. However, like all beat 'em up games, the game is much more enjoyable with friends. Up to four players will be able to play simultaneously, each controlling one of the more than 20 available characters.
An epic cast of characters
Although the undeniable protagonists in Maximum Carnage are Spider-Man and Venom, you can actually control more than 20 additional characters. To begin with, you'll have 19 different characters, including Felicia, Punisher, Morbius and Captain America, among others. And when you finish the game, you can unlock 12 additional characters, among which you'll find some of the most charismatic enemies in the Marvel Universe.
An outstanding beat 'em up
Download Maximum Carnage if you like classic action games or superhero stories, as this title is one of the best combinations of both elements that can be enjoyed on PC. The game, which is completely free, will allow you to relive one of the best Marvel titles out there, with up to four friends on the same PC. What's more, the pixel artwork-style graphics are a real delight.
